Riot Games is the creator and publisher of the 2020 digital collectable card game Legends of Runeterra. The designers wanted to make a game within the same style that had a substantially lower entry barrier, and
they were inspired by the real trading card classic Magic: The Gathering. The game has been free to play and monetized via in-game cosmetics since its discharge in April 2020. The game is accessible on mobile
devices running iOS and Android as well as Windows XP. Players compete one against one to bring their opponent’s health down to zero, just like in other collectible card games. There are ten regions, or sets of
cards with such a similar gaming character, and there are several card types. The pace of the action in the video game is one important aspect. The game incorporates a large variety of characters from Riot Games’

The online collectible card game Legends of Runeterra is a one-on-one match. The Nexus of each player starts with 20 health points; the Nexus of the first player to reach zero points loses. Each player starts a
game with a set of four cards that they can exchange for a different card drawn at chance from their card. In each round, one card is drawn by each player. Players start off with zero mana and can have a maximum
of 10 mana crystals. Cards are played by paying mana; players start with zero mana. At the conclusion of each round, a maximum of three unspent mana are automatically saved as spell mana; these can be used to
perform spells in subsequent rounds, but they cannot summon unit cards. The pace of the combat is one of the player’s distinctive elements. The “attack token,” a symbol that designates who may attack and who will

can attack using certain cards even if they do not possess the strike token. Each card in the game have a designated region, and one deck can contain games from up to two different regions during regular play.
Each region has its own identity and playing style. There aren’t any neutral cards that can be used in any deck, unlike other trading card games. The territories were created in the larger, extended League of
Legends universe. There were three different kinds of cards available when the game was first released: champions, followers, and spells. The League of Legends’ playable characters are represented by champion

Focus, a fourth speed, may only be employed when not engaged in battle but resolves instantly and doesn’t interfere with turn priority. Without speed, unit cards finish a team’s turn inside a round. The Monument of
Power supplement introduced a new card type: landmarks. Landmarks cannot block or attack; they must be played with ordinary unit mana and take up a spot on the player’s board. Some landmarks use a “countdown”
mechanism that, after a predetermined number of cycles, causes a predetermined consequence.
Development and Release
Workers at Riot Games have debated creating a card game since the beginning of the business. The brand has a sizable following of collectible card gamers. Steve Rubin, the balance director for Legends of
Runeterra, mentioned that Andrew Yip and Jeff Jew were both avid Magic: The Gathering players. Jeff Jew is the executive producer of the game and a former Riot Games employee. Legends of Runeterra was mostly
created over three years starting in 2017 and has several various concepts. As early playtesters, Riot enlisted professional Magic players; among them, Steve Rubin was invited to return indefinitely and later joined the
